GP employees urge CM to meet demands

Tuesday, 31 December 2019 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

The Odisha Gram Panchayat Employees, Peons, Watchmen and Sweepers Federation held a meeting here on Sunday. Working president Rabindra Senapati and general secretary Subrat Kumar Raul addressed the delegates.

There are more than 8,801employees in the posts of peon, night watchman and sweepers working in all 6,789 gram panchayats across the State. Even though they do duties like staffs of other Government offices, still they are deprived of equal pay for equal work. They even don’t get minimum wages. Their future has been pushed to dark as the Government is not regularising them despite their repeated requests.

This being the backdrop, federation members resolved to urge Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and 5T Secretary VK Pandian to issue a direction to fulfill all their demands on the occasion of New Year.

Functionaries from different districts attended the meeting. Assistant Secretary Chandramani Rana proposed a vote of thanks.
