Govt team to probe, report in 7 days

Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das on Saturday formed a four-member committee to conduct an investigation into the allegation of the Kalinga Hospital authorities misbehaving BJP MLA Mohan Charan Majhi during the latter’s visit to the hospital recently.

The Minister has asked the committee to submit its report within seven days’ time, informed an official release.

 It is informed that one Sachin Barik of Naradpur village under Jumpura block had died while undergoing treatment in the hospital a few days back.

 Though family members deposited all fees, still the hospital authorities charged more money and didn’t release the body.

On being requested by deceased ‘s father Basudeb Barik, the MLA went to the hospital and urged its DGM to release the body soon. However, the DGM and accounts staff misbehaved with him and said that they would not release the body unless all dues are paid. Later, Majhi brought all these to the notice of the Minister.

The committee comprises Health and Family Welfare Joint Secretary G Punam Tapas Kumar as Chairman and Joint Secretary Shubhananda Mohapatra and Deputy Secretaries Rajesh Agrawal and Yamini Patnaik as members.
