Uttar Pradesh government is set to launch a drive in July to make Kisan Credit Card facility available to farmers in the state.
Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi said here on Saturday that in view of the Union government’s decision to provide Kisan Credit Card facility to all farmers, the state government would launch a drive from July 1 to 31 to extend this facility to all eligible farmers in the state.
The drive will be carried out jointly by banks, UP Agriculture and Revenue departments.
The minister said Kisan Credit Card would help farmers in meeting their necessities related to agriculture and would also ensure their participation in the national drive for doubling farmers’ income by the year 2022.
The Agriculture Minister said the number of small and marginal farmers in the state was around 2.21 crore which was about 93 per cent of the total agriculture families. He said that the government was committed to enhancing the income of farmers.
