A girl and her family members slit the throat of a youth near Darabachha village under the Marshaghai police station in the district on Tuesday.
The victim, identified as 25-year-old Raj Kishore Dash of Kanpur village, was initially admitted to the Marshaghai Community Health Centre and later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
As his condition deteriorated, he was then referred to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.
Raj’s mother alleged that the girl’s family members invited him to their house in the morning and attacked him with sharp weapons.
On the other hand, family members of the girl accused the youth of harassing her after she spurned his proposal of having a relationship with him. The Marshaghai police are investigating into the incident.
