Giridih’s Sadar Hospital has become the ninth Sadar Hospital of the State to be equipped with the latest techniques for the diagnosis of cervical cancer. In yet another major initiative of Indian Medical Association (IMA) – Jharkhand Women’s Wing, a mega women health camp and ‘Jyoth se Jyoth Jalao Abhiyan’ was organised here that saw huge participation of people.
During the event which saw the participation of several dignitaries, a colposcopy machine was also inaugurated by Koderma MP -- Ravindra Rai including others. Jamua MLA Kedar Hazara inaugurated the set of digital Cryotherapy Machines. Meanwhile, eminent Ophthalmologist, Dr. Bharti Kashyap was felicitated during the event for her contribution towards creating awareness about cervical cancer.
In the camp, gynecologists from Koderma, Giridih, Hazaribagh districts were also provided training about cervical pre-cancer. A total of 410 patients were examined in the camp.
Over 60 per cent of the patients were diagnosed with the swelling and infections in cervix while in six women, cervical pre-cancer was found. All women in the camp were given free one month iron folic acid and calcium tablets. Tablets of Kit 2 and Kit 6 were also distributed free of cost among the females.
Meanwhile, during ‘Jyoth Se Jyot Jalao’ campaign, a total of 215 patients were examined in the camp. Of these 45 people were diagnosed with cataract, four patients of glaucoma, five patients of the infection in the tear pouch and 15 patients were those who lost eye sight due to diabetes. “All patients will be treated at Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital in the presence of experts.
The patients who need an intra-vitamin injection will get free injection including other facilities,” announced Dr. Bharti Kashyap during the event.
“We are glad that Giridih Sadar Hospital has become the ninth Sadar Hospital in the State to have latest equipments to diagnosis cervical cancer.
So far, out of 23 Sadar hospitals here in Jharkhand, nine hospitals toady have the facility of cervical cancer diagnosis. Notably, most women in India die due to cervical cancer. Approximately, 67,000 women die in our country every year due to cervical cancer,” added Dr. Kashyap.
“IMA Jharkhand-Women Doctors Wing aims to make Jharkhand free from cervical cancer. In this direction, we are continuously running a three-dimensional campaign in the State.
Under the programme, we identify the women suffering with cervical pre-cancer and guide them throughout the recovery session.
Also, camps are organised at a regular interval at different districts,” she further added.
