In a bid to ensure that people enjoy a hassle-free New Year’s Eve, the Gurugram Police on Monday issued an advisory to maintain law and order in the city ahead of New Year celebrations.
The district Police issued the advisory on Facebook/Twitter stating restrictions on traffic, parking and security, among others. Also, the Traffic Police will be present at various places to facilitate traffic and road closures will also be reflected on Google Maps.
“Both sides of the carriageway of Sector-29 from Sector-29 Red Light near Machan Restaurant to Crown Plaza Chowk and Leisure Valley road from Crown Plaza Chowk to Leisure Valley Park T Point shall remain closed for vehicular traffic,” said Subhash Boken spokesperson of the Gurugram police.
Similarly, the carriageway from Sec 29 Red Light (near Machan restaurant) to the intersection near Kingdom of Dreams shall operate as a one-way road and traffic will only be allowed to move from the former to the latter.
Commuters intending to go towards sector-29 market from NH-48 are requested to follow the blue line and park their vehicles in the parking area.
Commuters coming From Signature Tower to Sector-29 market are requested to follow the yellow line, take a left from Lemon tree hotel and go straight towards the parking area.
Commuters coming from MG Road are requested to follow green line, take a right after Iffco metro station and go straight towards the parking area. Expecting heavy footfall on December 31 and January 1, the Gurugram Police issued guidelines for parking of vehicles. “Some parking spaces are available near the Metro Station, however, when they fill up the vehicles will have to come towards Leisure Valley Ground Parking,” said the PRO.
Police said commuters are advised to park their vehicles at the designated parking spots only. Parking on the roads will be strictly prohibited and the vehicle parked on the road will be towed away by the Traffic Police.
“Teams will be deployed at various points in Gurugram to check Drunken Driving. The penalty for Drunken Driving as per amended Motor Vehicle Act is Rs 10,000 and the driving license is liable to be suspended for 3 months. Commuters are advised not to drive vehicles in an intoxicated state for their own safety,” Boken said.
Also, strict guidelines have been issued for restaurant and club owners in the city. Bar owners have been asked not to serve liquor beyond the permissible limit. The Gurugram Police has asked bar owners to check the ID card of each individual who enters the premises and ensure proper CCTV coverage at the entrance so that their faces can be clearly captured.
Special joint teams of revenue, Excise and police personnel equipped with videographers have been formed to check any violation and take strictest possible action.
