Five killed in road mishaps

Five persons, including a gram pradhan, were killed while over a dozen others were injured in separate road mishaps in Moradabad during the last 24 hours. 

In the first accident in Wazirganj police station area of Moradabad, gram pradhan of Byoli, Abhishekh Pratap Singh, died after being knocked down by a speeding motorcyclist late Tuesday night.

In another incident, Pritam (30) of Pidara hamlet of Bisauli, was returning with his wife, Kavita (27), and two-year-old daughter after celebrating ‘Bhaidooj’ at his in-law’s place in Gopalpur hamlet of Wazirganj, when another motorcyclist hit his two-wheeler in front of Saidpur Degree College. While Pritam died on the spot, his wife and daughter and the other motorcyclist, Veeresh (40), were injured. 

The injured were shifted to District Hospital and a case was registered. 

In another mishap, Hariom Kashyap of Pusgawa hamlet of Wazirganj, was returning with his family members after celebrating `Bhaidooj’ at his in-law’s house when a speeding Roadways bus crushed them at 

Moradabad-Farrukhabad road under Civil Lines police station. While Hariom and his 8-year-old son Anshu Kashyap died on the spot, his wife Sushma (30), daughter Meenakshi (7) and son Priyanshu (5) were seriously injured. They were admitted to a nearby hospital. 

In Alapur area of Moradabad, an unknown person died after being knocked down by a speeding motorcycle. 

In yet another incident on Bareilly-Agra highway, a couple, Virendra and Katori, were knocked down by a two-wheeler near Bitrai turning in Ujhani police station area. Both were critically injured and admitted to hospital.

In Sahaswan area of Moradabad, two motorcycles collided as a result of which Indrapal (28) of Bhamori hamlet, his wife Radha Devi (25), and two sons Sumit (6) and Rohit (4) were injured. They were shifted to a hospital.  

Elsewhere, in Sant Kabir Nagar, three persons were killed and four others were injured when a bus in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary truck near Maghar township in Khalilabad police station area on Tuesday morning. 

The Roadways bus was coming from Basti and it dashed into the truck parked by the roadside, killing three persons and injuring four. 

Superintendent of Police of Sant Kabir Nagar, Brijesh Kumar, said that two of the deceased were identified as Om Prakash of Bihar and Shiv Kumar Gautam of Sitapur district. Efforts were on to ascertain the identity of the third deceased. The injured were admitted to civil hospital where they were being treated.
