Chhattisgarh government has initiated process for the refund of hard-earned money of the investors who were duped by Chit fund Company PACL in Mahasamund district. 

The government directed the district as well as Janpad-level officials to help the duped investors in filing claims online. The company reportedly duped an estimated over 30 crore poor families across the country, including many in the district. The total amount of the scam is stated to be approximately Rs. 50,000 crore.

The company which started in 1982, shut down operations in 2014. 

At Janpad level, free facilitation centre will be set up on February 28 for filing of claim through online.  The centre will have 4-5 data entry operators and programmers. The filing of forms will start from March 1.

State government started the refund process based on Justice R. M. Lodha Committee’s recommendation in the PACL case.

The last date for filing the claim is April 30. To assist the investors, one district-level nodal officer and technical assistant has been provided. Registration process has to be done at http://sebipaclrefund.co.in.

As part of the preparation, at the district level, the programmer and data entry operators were imparted training on how to assist the investors in filing the claim application.

The nodal officers will have to record the daily registered application and claim amount.

The government also decided to spread the message through different media so that maximum investors can derive benefit of getting back their investment amount.

The training session emphasised on filing the claims as per the original documents, so to avoid any possible error.
