The Government body meant to recruit teachers for the various subjects in schools run by the Delhi Government and the three municipal corporations could not fill up the vacancies as candidates who appeared in the written tests, failed to clear the same.
Delhi State Subordinate Selection Board (DSSSB) made a submission before the Delhi Court in this regard during the hearing of a petition on Monday.
A lawyers group called ‘Social Jurist’ has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court in the end of March against the DSSSB in the end of March for not filling the vacant teaching positions. “The board has failed to fill the position and has not issued advertisement and invited application to fill the requisition of 105691 additional teachers vacancies received by the board from Directorate of Education (DOE) by seventh of April 2019,” said the Ashok Aggarwal, the counsel for the Social jurist.
The court then asked the DSSSB to respond on the petition for which the board submitted its response.
As per the affidavit, out of the total 10057 notified examinations, the board has filled a total number of 6029 vacant post and about 652 teaching posts have been kept pending. Thus, there are still 3376 unfilled vacancies in schools of Delhi Government, Municipal Corporations and NDMC.
“Major vacancies (1879) of the following post codes (10 number of various subject teaching post) of education department could not be filled as sufficient number of candidates could not secure the passing marks,” said the DSSB in the affidavit.
Further as per the data, the DOE requested the DSSSB to fill the 1329 vacant position of special Educators, out of which 985 vacancies have not been filled.
Further there total 324 vacancies for mathematics teacher in Delhi Government Schools but the Board has filled only 43 post and the remaining 280 teaching position for the subject is left unfilled.
Further DoE asked the DSSSB to fill various teaching post of about 2598, out of which 1879 posts have not been filled by the board and are lying vacant.
“The recruitment process of these vacancies has been returned to the user department for taking further action in this regard. Further the results for Out of 67 post codes for various teaching posts, the results for 49 posts have been declared and the results for six post codes will be declared by 30th April i.e, on Tuesday,” DSSB told the court.
The DSSB said that it has sent the 1600 dossiers of 43 post codes against the 3230 vacancies to DOE and 413 dossiers against one post code of special educator has been sent to MCD.
“3789 dossiers of assistant teachers post against 4366 vacancies will be sent to MCD by Tuesday.
The DSSB further requested the High court to extend the time for declaring results of remaining 12 post codes involving 4709 vacancies up to 31st April 2019.
