Doctor crunch hits Bargarh hospitals

Wednesday, 31 July 2019 | PNS | BARGARH

The State Health Department is in a dock in Bargarh district. Against a requirement of over 219 doctor, only 115 doctors are working now in the district. Similarly, only 35 nurses are working against a requirement of double the number.

Even the Orthopedics Department and other important departments have no doctors and shortage of manpower.

As if this is not enough, there is serious lack of beds in the hospitals. The patients have to lay on the floor for treatment.

In the District Headquarters  Hospital, while 90 beds are there, approximately 1,500 patients are reporting per day.

Even there is shortage of saline stand. So the hospitl staff use a nail in the wall for dangling saline bottle and blood pouch. Every day many patents from neighboring Chhatishgarh also are reporting for treatment at the DHH.

New building of the hospital is already completed but not functioning. The mortuary is under lock and keys due to damage of freezer since long.
