With an objective to ensure welfare and comfort of children residing in different childcare institutions in the State, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced a financial assistance for each District Red Cross Society.
A release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said District Red Cross Societies would receive Rs 10 lakh each to provide necessary support and humanitarian intervention to the childcare institutions.
Besides, an additional assistance of Rs 10 lakh each would be provided to the districts of Mayurbhanj, Ganjam, Baleswar, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Sambalpur.
The amounts would be given from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) and other sources.
Notably, on October 27, the Chief Minister had visited a childcare institution in Bhubaneswar to celebrate Diwali with its inmates. He had also directed the Chief Secretary, other senior officers and district Collectors to visit local childcare institutions under the 5-T initiative.
