The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is going to conduct a survey to find out the number of homeless people residing in the national Capital.
The authority is conducting a survey under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme in this regard. However, houses will not been allotted to people, even after the survey is completed by the civic agency.
As per the officials, the DDA is conducting the survey following the orders of the Union Government. The main agenda behind the project is to compile a data base to keep a count on the homeless and will use these data in future if any housing scheme will be implemented in the city.
“The idea behind the project is to stop corrupt activities that take place during such surveys. Also, the authority will conduct the survey online. Further, helpline centers will be set up at various places and the DDA staffs will help the un-educated people to fill in their details and information,” said a DDA official.
The online survey will start from first of August and will continue till 30th September. The homeless people can fill the online form. However, the survey will not include the people living in the slum clusters.
“The people living in the slums will not be added in the data as they own a place and there is separate scheme for the relocation of the slum clusters. Thus, homeless people such as those residing at ‘ranbasera’ and others,” said the official adding the authority also advises the people there is no online process and they should not believe if anyone tries to con them.
