Local resident of Dhanvaskala village have welcomed the decision of Rajgarh district collector Nidhi Nivedita, of adopting two-year girl child Priya, after she was found undernourished during the inspection of villages.
The collector will take care of the child as her daughter and will look after her all her needs till the child becomes healthy including her schooling. During her inspection she noticed the girl Priya in acute undernourished physical health the Collector Nidhi Nivedita carried the child and her mother in her car to the NRC centre and admitted her. While talking to The Pioneer Collector Nidhi Nivedita told that Rajgarh district is running a campaign which is known as SAM free Rajgarh. In this campaign the administration will declare Rajgarh district 100 percent severe acute malnourished child SAM free district on 26 January 2020. Total 375 children have been identified as acute malnourished children in Rajgarh district. Launched during national poshan month this SAM free campaign is aimed at declaring aspiring district Rajgarh SAM free by using community based management of SAM children as opposed to NRC based approach.
Under this concept, one person has been assigned one child who’s all nutrition health and preschool education needs fulfillment is entrusted with the person taking up this task. This involves strengthening the WCD network of ICDS services through anganwadi worker, helper, supervisor, CDPO and DPO and efficient delivery of all services provided by the department integrating with the health department services of routine checkups tests, medications immunization, multivitamins and antibiotics doses if needed and filling the gap in the services through compassionate involvement of people adopting them and providing for the things like fresh clean clothes washing kit pair of shoes personal hygiene and grooming kit toys individual preschool material etc not provided as of now by the government schemes.
