The commissionerate police (CP) authorities have asked the inspectors-in-charge (IICs) of the police stations in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar to convene a meeting with the senior citizens every Sunday.

Commissioner of police Sudhanshu Sarangi has also advised the senior citizens to take the help of mobile-based app ‘Sahayata’ during an emergency.

The decision to convene a meeting in the police station level every Sunday from 4 pm to 5 pm was taken during a meeting with senior citizens here. More than 950 senior citizens participated in the event, which also included a free health checkup camp.

Police said that various kinds of help are being provided by them to the senior citizens. “During house visit of senior citizens, we scrutinise the physical security measures of the houses and advise them to instal CCTVs, door chains, door alarms, electronic eyeballs and grill fencing in their houses,” said Sarangi. “Besides, we also verify the antecedents of the domestic helps and tenants of the senior citizens,” added another police official.
