Country economy in doldrums: Digvijaya

Saturday, 30 November 2019 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said economy of the country is in doldrums, but the Central government says there is nothing to worry. They do not have any effective strategy to revive it, he claimed.

He was talking to media on his arrival at Swami Vivekananda Airport, Raipur on a day’s visit to Raipur.

On unemployment in the country, he said the problem has increased manifold, the investment is not coming, the power consumption is reducing but central government does not raise any concern over the issue and is not serious.

He said Congress has to walk out in Rajya Sabha over the reply of finance minister. “We desire that the House should function normally but when we do not get satisfactory reply, then nothing can be done,” Singh said.

He claimed that due to the GST and demonetization, the country is reeling under economic recession.

Commenting on Congress ruled states, he said all the basic decisions being taken by the Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are welcomed. All the decisions taken by them had kept the economic recession in these states at bay slightly.

At Manipur, Meghalaya and Goa, BJP could install the  government but failed in Maharashtra, he pointed out.
