High alert -sounded after the air strikes by India on terrorists inside Pakistan- helped Uttarakhand police recover counterfeit currency with the face value of Rs 2,09,500 from the possession of a person in Dehradun on Wednesday. Informing the media persons at her office, the senior superintendent of police (SSP), Nivedita Kukreti said that while checking vehicles on Ring Road, a team of Raipur police station had stopped a person near Garhwali Colony, based on certain inputs. During checking, counterfeit currency was recovered from a person identified as Sakir, a resident of Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh. Police later recovered printer, ink and other materials used in printing fake currency from his residence. On interrogation, he is said to have admitted that he used good quality paper to print fake currency and that he sold such currency in Moradabad on 40 percent commission.
