Contractual health workers suspend agitation

After assurance from authorities, the agitating contractual health workers, belonging to the Uttarakhand Purva sainik kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL) and Prantiya Rakshak Dal (PRD), suspended their work boycott programme on Saturday.

On third day of agitation, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Dehradun Dr S K Gupta assured the employees that their pending salaries would soon be disbursed.

Agitated by non receipt of salaries from last five months, these workers deployed in district hospital, Gandhi Centenary eye hospital, Coronation, Prem Nagar hospital and many Community Health Centres ( CHC) were  on a three day work boycott.

The general secretary of the UPNL health workers association Hemant Rawat said that the agitation has been suspended but warned that if the salary is not disbursed soon, the employees would go on an indefinite strike.
