Friday, 31 May 2019 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

Chhattisgarh Congress Spokesperson RP Singh and Editor of a Hindi Newspaper Giriraj Sharma were sentenced to six-month imprisonment in a defamation case filed by Aman Singh, a former principal secretary to erstwhile CM Raman Singh.

“The court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Vinay Kumar Pradhan on Thursday gave the verdict on a news published by the Patrika against Aman Singh on October 30, 2013,” Rakesh Shroti, Aman Singh’s advocate said.

In the news Congress spokesperson RP Singh had alleged that Aman Singh and his wife Yasmin Singh were planning to flee to Dubai and their passport should be seized, Shroti informed.

The court found that the news had defamed Aman Singh, as the respondents could not prove what they had claimed in the published news, the advocate added.
