The State Congress on Wednesday announced to waive off farmers’ loans if voted to power in year-end Assembly election. State Congress president and former parliamentarian, Rameshwar Oraon, addressing a gathering at last leg of divisional-wise Jan Aakrosh rally at Dhurwa ground, announced waiver of farmers loan and return of non-utilized tribal land acquired by Government for setting up industries if the Congress party forms a Government here.
The Congress party’s promise to waive farmers loan assumes significance as the grand old party returned to power in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh riding on promise to waive farmers’ loans last year.
Attacking the Raghubar Das government, Oraon said, “The BJP government in State is working against the tribals as they are planning to make changes in Chottanagpur/Santhal Pargana Tenancy Acts (CNT/SPT) with an attempt to grab tribals land. Tribals existence will be at stake if there are changes made to the tenancy laws.”
Echoing the views of Oraon, State Congress in-charge RPN Singh said, “Apart from waiving farmers’ loan, if Congress is voted to power we will give a job to one person from each household, as the BJP government has failed to create employment opportunities for youths.”
Slamming BJP government on its mission 65 plus, Singh said, “BJP had given mission 200 plus in Maharashtra and mission 75 plus in Haryana, but the people of two states have taught a lesson to BJP.
We are confident that people in Jharkhand will teach similar lesson to BJP as the party will fail to even cross 25 seats in Jharkhand.” The Congress party as part of reaching out to masses has been organizing Jan Aakrosh rally at all administrative divisions. The Wednesday rally was last leg of Jan Aakrosh rally which was attended by senior Congress leaders including former Ranchi MP Subodh Kant Sahay, former Dhanbad MP Chandra Shekhar Dubey ‘Dadai Dubey’, Congress legislature party leader Alamgir Alam, Congress MP Geeta Koda, Dhiraj Sahu among others. Sahay said, “Jharkhand is the state which has given birth to the term ‘mob lynching’ as more than 24 incidents of mob lynching have been reported in State in last five years.” The Jan Aakrosh rally was also show of strength of Congress leaders eyeing for tickets for Assembly election. The rally was to start at 11 am, but there was thin attendance of people at the rally. As time passed Congress leaders along with their supporters started reaching the venue.
Congress leader from Nagri/Ratu area, Lal Prem Prakash Nath Shahdeo was the first leader to reach the venue with supporters, followed by Aditya Vikram Jaiswal from Ranchi, Rajesh Kachaap from Khijri reaching the venue. By afternoon the ground was full with Congress supporters.
