Objecting to chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat’s declaration to set up a ‘fifth dham’ at ‘Shaurya Sthal’ in the memory of martyrs, the State unit of Congress party has termed it violation of model code of conduct.
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that apart from the four Dhams, Uttarakhand has a fifth Dham also, which is ‘ Sainik Dham’ during his rally at Rudrapur on Thursday, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand on Friday had said that the fifth dham would be built in the State.
Taking strong objection to this statement of Chief Minister, the Congress party has submitted a complaint to the election commission and demanded action.
The Vice President of the State unit of the Congress party, Surya Kant Dhasmana said that on Friday during a public interaction programme at EC road in Dehradun, the CM had said that ‘Shaurya Sthal’ would be made fifth Dham, which is an open violation of code of conduct enforced in the State in view of the Lok Sabha elections.
He said the CM or his any member of his cabinet cannot make any policy decision or make any announcement regarding developmental work during the model code of conduct. Dhasmana said that the CM’s announcement regarding fifth dham was a policy decision so that a case of violation of model code of conduct should be registered against CM and an appropriate action should be taken by the election commission.
