In an allegation former DCC president and Congress candidate for Rourkela Assembly seat Biren Senapaty remarked that the R and B Executive Engineer Office at Rourkela has become the paradise of BJD-supported contractors.
He urged the Executive Engineer (EE) to take initiative to make the office BJD free and ensure transparency and impartiality maintained in allotting the job and payments of bills.
In a letter to the EE, R and B, Senapaty alleged that most of the jobs are allotted on priority basis violating all norms and paraphernalia to the contractors who are associated with BJD. Citing the example of widening work of Bisra-Bondhamunda road, Senapaty alleged that the cost of the job was for Rs 50 lakh, but instead of allotting the same through tender process, the works orders were given to a number of BJD supported contractors by dividing the jobs in many parts.
Even it is learnt that a number of technical persons of the office are executing the jobs in a partnership with the contractors, he alleged.
That is why on many occasions, it is seen that those contractors go to the extent of sitting in the chairs of the corrupt engineers and ordering the subordinate staffers to do the file works according to their mercy, he alleged.
On many occasions, the bill of the contractors who do not fall in BJD line were not cleared in time, rather they are harassed on one count or the other, Senapaty told.
