Raipur District Magistrate and Collector Dr Basavaraju S has constituted a committees to conduct fire audit of all the educational institutions, commercial complexes, hospitals, industrial houses, community-marriage halls and residential high-rise buildings of the district.
The committees will investigate whether the buildings fulfill fire safety standards, and submit the audit report within 30 days.
The order was issued under the provisions of the Chhattisgarh Land Development Act 1984. Educational institutions, commercial complexes, hospitals, industrial houses, community-marriage halls and residential multi-storied buildings do not strictly install the fire safety measures as per the standard provisions.
The fire audit will identify buildings that are constructed illegally and violated prescribed norms posing danger to human lives.
Fire audit will be conducted within the jurisdiction of all civic bodies under Raipur district and for this different committees have been constituted.
The committee under the Municipal Corporation Raipur and Birgaon will be led by ADM and Commissioner RMC, respective Sub Divisional Officer (Revenue).
Collector Dr Basavaraju S said that panels will inspect all the fire safety standards of the building, including the illegal construction and other standards of the buildings.
The committee will also ascertain whether fire prevention, life safety, fire protection and high-rise building standards set under the National Building Code of India (NBC) are followed.
