Thursday, 31 October 2019 | PNS | Bokaro

Many water bodies across the city have been left choking on idols, puja paraphernalia, plastics and other waste post immersions for Durga and Kali Puja. In view of the of devotees traditionally offering prayers to the Sun god on Chhath, the district administration of Bokaro and Chas Municipal Corporation (CMC) have issued directives for cleaning the water bodies.

The civic body, which has already pressed its labourers to clean ponds ahead of Chhath, is planning to depute guards near the important water bodies to ensure that people do not litter  again. Meanwhile, several NGOs and local people are taking initiatives in cleaning water bodies across district.

During cleanliness drive, polythene, idols of Lord Ganesh and Laxmi including glass and plastic bottles, broken parts of mirrors were fished out of rivers, said Satnam, a member of organisation engaged in drive.
