Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat laid the foundation for a 300-bed hospital at Harrawala in Dehradun on Wednesday. He also unveiled the foundation for various developmental schemes amounting to Rs 540 crore on the occasion. The mother-child hospital in Harrawala will be named Shakuntala Rani Sardarilal Oberoi hospital. Local industrialist Rakesh Oberoi has donated 15 bigha land for this hospital.
The hospital will be built at a cost of Rs 164 crore. In addition to this, foundation for works amounting to Rs 287 crore under Smart City project was also unveiled.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that in the past two years the state government has taken various important decisions for the development of the state. Special focus has been laid on health, drinking water, employment, migration and other issues. Rawat said that the Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana was launched to provide health cover to all families in the state. Since the launch of the scheme on December 25 last year, 10,000 persons have been treated under the scheme while golden cards for 23.50 persons have been made to facilitate free medical treatment of up to Rs five lakh per year per family under the scheme. Further, during the past 22 months, 36 recruitment tests were conducted by the Uttarakhand subordinate services selection commission through which 2,221 appointments were made. On the other hand, between 2014 and March 2017 only six such exams were held resulting in 819 appointments. Rawat further said that the foundation of the national law university will be laid at Ranipokhri on March 2. Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj, MPs Ramesh Pokhriyal, Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, mayor Sunil Uniyal and other public representatives were also present on the occasion.
