Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said a Sports Development Authority will be set up in the state for better coordination to host national and international level sports activities.
He said this while holding a review meeting of sports department at the Secretariat (Mahanadi Bhawan) on Tuesday.
The CM directed the concerned officials to place a proposal for it. The state policy level decisions for sports will be taken through it.
Chief Minister said that efforts should be made to promote sports by enhancing the activities. All the sports infrastructure of the state should be put to maximum use.
Discussion was also held to set up sports academies in different parts of the state. Baghel laid emphasis on preparing sports persons for winning medals at international events. He then directed officials to prepare schemes for opening of sports school, involving village level youth in sports and cultural activities and development of sports infrastructure.
Sports and youth welfare minister Umesh Patel, chief secretary Sunil Kujur, principal secretary to CM Gaurav Dwivedi, sports department secretary Siddarth Komal Singh and sports director Shweta Sinha were present in the meeting.
