Chief Minister Raghubar Das, through a letter to Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, has requested to announce general information of Railway in Olchiki script along with Hindi in Railway Stations in all six districts of Santhal Pargana and those falling under East Singhbhum district of Kolhan region. Display of other general information, along with the name of railway station, should also be done in Olchiki with Hindi. This will facilitate grasping of information easily and a sense of pride in their language, he has stated.
The CM has written in his letter that during the prime ministerial term of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Santhali language was included in the eighth schedule of the Constitution.
It is to be noted that the Chief Minister had instructed to write names of all Government offices, schools, colleges in Olchiki along with Hindi of all six districts of Santhal Pargana which includes, Dumka, Deoghar, Pakur, Godda, Jamtara and Sahibganj and also areas of East Singhbhum with Santhali population.
