The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday conducted raid at the office of Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh (MCC).
The raids by CBI were conducted under the special drive conducted across the country at such points of corruption where common citizens or small businessmen feel maximum pinch of corruption in the Government machinery.
The raid in MCC was conducted on the day when the Punjab Governor and UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore delivered a speech at general house meeting of the civic body.
Sources said the CBI conducted raid to check the records of gyms set up in community centres from 2016 onwards. The records regarding gyms and equipments purchased, tender process was checked and seized by the CBI team.
Meanwhile, Chandigarh Congress president Pradeep Chhabra has alleged that there is several corruption scams in the MCC since 2016 when the BJP took over the post of mayor.
“BJP has benefited its own people while setting up gyms in community centres. There is corruption in issuing of parking contracts, street vendors issue and several others. We demands a fair and impartial probe into various scams of MCC,” he added.
