Cash and commodities worth Rs 11 lakhs were looted from two textile shops at Bagodih Chowk in Sariya in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. The incident occurred around 45 km from Giridih city.
Rajnandani Vastralaya and Anjali Vastralaya located in Bagodih Chowk, which were owned by Bunti Saw and Yogendra Saw, were looted on the fateful night, police said.
Around seven robbers scaled the walls of the houses of Banti Saw and Yogendra Saw, where the family were asleep inside the house and fled with cash and durables.
The victim Bunti Kumar said that there were seven masked criminals, four of whom had revolvers and the rest had knives. “The criminals assaulted me and my family members and also threatened to kill my eight-year-old daughter Rajnandani and wife Lakshmi,” he said.
Later they took out Rs 30 thousand in cash and gold and silver jewelery worth Rs 3 lakh and they also robbed readymade clothes of Rs 3 lakh from the shop and Rs 1.15 lakh cash, kept in the locker. Kanchan Devi, wife of Jogendra Saw said that criminals looted Rs 70,000 cash, jewelery worth Rs 1 lakh and clothes worth Rs 2 lakh from her shop. These robbers have also threatened the family of dire consequences if the approach the police. After the information of the incident, Saria police reached the spot at around 3 am. The SDPO, Binod Kumar Mahto said that the incident is being investigated.
