Boy dies due to ‘wrong injection’ in Bhadrak

A wrong injection administered by a staff of a clinic allegedly resulted in the of an 11-year-old boy at Biriadia village under the Bansada police station in Bhadrak district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Suresh Barik, son of Gangadhar of the  village.

Suresh had fallen ill on Tuesday, following which his father took him to the clinic named ‘Tarini’ at Ghanteswar Bazaar. Clinic owner Madan Kar gave him medicines and an injection. Later, the boy was taken back to house, where his condition deteriorated further. On Thursday, he was admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where he died while undergoing treatment.

Doctors at the DHH said the boy was administered a wrong injection that led to his death. Later, family members of the deceased lodged a written complaint against the clinic at the Ghanteswar police station. Meanwhile, the clinic’s owner has absconded.

Acting on the complaint, police have begun an investigation into the matter.
