In view of the tension prevailing along Indo-Pak border now, the security in and around the Defence establishments here, especially the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, has been beefed up.
Sources said police have stepped up the security measures outside the Defence units. Similarly, the internal security has been tightened since Tuesday.
ITR Director Dr BK Das said, “Although we have not received any alert or advisories from any source, still I suo motu reviewed the security mechanism in and around our campus. Yesterday, I took a meeting with senior officers of our unit as well as security personnel. The measures have been further fortified.”
The Chandipur Defence complex also houses Proof and Experimental Establishment (PXE) and other important units. The PXE is surrounded by at least five villages, residents of which are mostly Bengali speaking migrants.
Chandipur police station IIC Ranjit Kumar Sahoo said, “We have not received any alert from our department but we are alert. Besides existing deployments, patrolling has been further intensified.”
