Blood donation is akin to giving life, and an apt way of repaying to nature the debt of one's own life, Deputy Commissioner of Bokaro Mukesh Kumar said on Friday during a blood donation camp organised under Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) for spreading awareness among voters. “By donating blood, one not only can give new life to others, but he can also overcome from many diseases," he added.
“India needs 1 crore units of blood every year and if we do not donate blood, then from where these requirements of blood will be fulfilled,” said Kuma at Red Cross Society in Bokaro Steel City.
Aiming to motivate voters and to ensure high voters’ turnout in the Assembly election, the camp was organized by the district administration.
The significance of donating blood can only be appreciated by those who come to the hospital during distress, have no support system of their own and must depend on the blood donated by others, said Kumar adding "While it does absolutely no harm to the donors, it proves to be a life-saver for the recipients."
Just like blood donation voting is important in life, so please come out with full enthusiasm and cast your votes, urged Kumar.
The four constituencies of Bokaro district including Bermo and Gomia will go for poll on 12 December while Bokaro and Chandankiyari on 16 December.
Beside a large number of blood donors, Bokaro SP P Murugun, Dr. Mohanty of Red Cross Society, District Public Relations Officer Rahul Kumar Bharti and personnel of Red Cross were present during the camp.
