The impasse over allotment of ticket by the BJP for the Puri Assembly constituency still continues. Former MLA Krusna Chandra Panda has virtually revolted against the party leadership.
But after the BJD announced Maheswar Mohanty as its candidate, the BJP is looking for a new face to contest from the seat.
Sources said the BJP is in touch with former Union Minister Brajakishore Tripathy, who might be fielded against Mohanty.
Though Puri Municipality Chairman Jayant Sarangi andKrusnachandra Panda are in the ticket race, but the saffron brigade does not have faith on them. Party feels that Tripathy could counter Mohanty well by reuniting his old supporters.
But it is reported that Braja has placed a condition to fight under Samata Kranti Dal (SKD) founded by him.
