BJP, Mahagathbandhan optimistic in Phase I

Tuesday, 30 April 2019 | PNS | Ranchi

As the fourth phase (first phase in Jharkhand) of polling in State concluded on Monday, the ruling BJP and Opposition parties have claimed to be victorious in the election. On Monday polling was held in Lohardaga, Chatra and Palamu. In these three seats, BJP is contesting against Congress led ‘Mahagathbandhan’.

In Lohardaga the Congress has put up Sukhdeo Bhagat as its candidate against Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Sudarshan Bhagat. BJP’s sitting MP from Palamu VD Ram is contesting against RJD’s Ghuran Ram, while Chatra is witnessing triangular contest between BJP, RJD and Congress.

After the fourth phase of polling, BJP claimed that there will saffron surge in all three constituencies as voters defying the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) voted in large number in support of BJP candidates.

State BJP vice president, Aditya Sahu said, “The voters in these seats have defied LWE menace voting in large number in support of BJP candidates. The contribution goes to State Government, which with iron hand had checked LWE menace.” Sahu claimed that the Mahagathbandhan has failed in State as there is much infighting among three parties Congress, JVM and RJD.  Sahu said, “After first phase the people have rejected Mahagathbandhan and they have once again reposed faith on NaMO.”

The Congress also claimed that Mahagathbandhan will emerge victorious in all three seats which went to poll on Monday. State Congress spokesperson, Alok Dubey said, “There was strong anti-incumbency against sitting BJP MPs in all three seats. The people in these constituencies were looking for replacement as sitting MPs had no direct connect with the masses.” Dubey said that the BJP beat the anti-incumbency of sitting MPs had relied on Modi magic, but it will also fail to help the BJP candidates.

The Congress leader claimed that after the first phase of elections it is clear that Mahagathbandhan will win all 14 seats in State.

Echoing the views of Congress leader, JMM too is optimistic of Mahagathbandhan victory in all three seats. JMM general secretary, Supriyo Bhattacharaya said, “The the Mahagathbandhan will win all three seats and the same trends will be other seats too.”

The JMM also slammed PM Modi for holding rally on Election Day.

Bhattacharya said, “The PM rally in Jamua was disappointing for BJP as the rally ground was only half filled. The PM speech was boring as there was nothing new in his speech. The PM talked about same thing which he used to talk in other public meeting.”

The JMM leader claimed that a competition is going on between Prime Minister and Chief Minister for making false promises and telling lies.
