Bermo Block Development Officer Praveen Chaudhary visited more than 70 polling booths within the limits of Bermo and Gandhinagar police station in Bermo assembly constituency to conduct physical verification of basic civic amenities for voters on Wednesday.
During the visit, the BDO issued instructions to the cluster and polling booth officials. He said the Bokaro Deputy Commissioner had directed all BDOs of Bokaro district to ensure basic civic amenities at all polling booths to make sure the voters cast their votes in a hassle-free manner.
DC Bokaro Mukesh Kumar had recently held a meeting to review basic amenities at the polling booths across the district. He asked the officials concerned to submit a report to DC office after physical verification of facilities prescribed by the ECI. The BDO Praveen Chaudhary inspected all 70 booths on Wednesday for facilities like drinking water, toilet, power supply and ramp for differently-abled citizens. He also inquired about availability of furniture in school buildings lying vacant post merger with other schools. He said basic civic amenities should also be made available at cluster points where security personnel and election duty staff would be putting up for polls. Many school teachers, local body members and polling officials were present during the visit. While Deputy Commissioner Bokaro Mukesh Kumar issued directives to his officials for the upcoming assembly election 2019.
The DC chaired a review meeting about the preparations of elections with all the block development officers, zonal officers and other officials, under their respective blocks and asked them to ensure that the elections are conducted fairly and peacefully.
DC asked the officials to make available the list of polling booths, arrangements of drinking water, lights, sheds including mobile phone connectivity and way of monitoring as earliest.
DC said that handicapped people should not face any kind of difficulties during polling and asked for the arrangements for ramp in all polling stations as per the Election Commission's guidelines.
