The Commissionerate police arrested the owner of a coaching centre for allegedly misbehaving with a tribal Class-X girl student of the institute at Mancheswar in the city.
Narayan Khuntia (50) had allegedly barged into the girl’s house and misbehaved with her on Tuesday at around 9 pm. The girl’s family members tried to nab Khuntia, but he managed to flee.
Later in the night, neighbours of the girl went to Khuntia’s house and thrashed him. Acting on a complaint lodged by the girl’s family, police arrested Khuntia.
On the other hand, the accused has pleaded innocence alleging that the kin of the girl intentionally levelled the allegations against him after he asked them to pay tuition fees of Rs 7,000.
