Chhattisgarh Congress has decided to take the Nyuntam Aay Yojana (NYAY) announced recently by party president Rahul Gandhi to people ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
The scheme proposed to provide Rs 72,000 per year to families living below poverty line.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will flag-off the first phase of six-day long NYAY yatra from Kirandul town of insurgency-hit Dantewada district on Sunday.
Before flagging of the yatra, the chief minister will also seek the blessings of Danteshwari Devi, Congress state general secretary Girish Dewangan and chairman of state Congress communication wing Shailesh Nitin Trivedi informed during a press conference held at party’s state headquarter here on Saturday.
Chhattisgarh Mahila Congress, Youth Congress and National Students Union of India (NSUI) have been given the responsibility to ensure active public participation in the mega drive.
NSUI state president Akash Sharma, Youth Congress working president Koko Padhi and Mahendra Gangotri will accompany NYAY yatra in each constituency, they added.
Chhattisgarh Congress has constituted a 10-member committee to successfully organise the event.
Congress will also highlight failures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government during the yatra, the Congress leaders said.
