The date for reopening of the portals of Badrinath temple will be decided on the auspicious occasion of Vasant Panchami on February 10. According to information provided by the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee, media in charge Harish Gaur, the traditional ceremony for ascertaining the date of reopening of Badrinath temple will be held in the palace of the erstwhile royal family of Tehri in Narendranagar.
As per the tradition, the ceremony is slated to start in the palace of the erstwhile royal family of Tehri at 10:30 AM on the occasion of Vasant Panchami. Along with the erstwhile king of Tehri, the office bearers of Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee, priests and members of the Dimri Panchayat among others will be present at the ceremony. The date of reopening of the portals of Badrinath shrine to the public will be formally announced on this day. On the same day, representatives of Dimri Panchayat will also arrive with Gadu Ghada- the pot containing sesame oil. The date of the Gadu Ghada yatra will also be declared on the occasion. The temple committee is according final touches to preparations for the ceremony. A large number of devotees are also expected to be present on the occasion.
It is pertinent to mention here that like all the Char Dham shrines, the Badrinath temple is also closed to the public during the six months of winter every year. Badrinath is the most visited of the four Char Dham shrines in Uttarakhand.
