Thursday, 28 February 2019 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Armed miscreants broke into the residence of one Suranjit  Rana at Kanan Vihar under the Chandrasekharpur police station on late Tuesday night and decamped with valuables brandishing sharp weapons at the family members.

Sources said the miscreants barged into the house by breaking the grill gate at around 2.30 am. Then, they tied the hands and legs of the house owner’s parents and wife and looted 250 grams of gold jewellery and other valuables before fleeing away.

After getting information in the morning, police rushed to the spot along with a forensic team and began investigation. Fortunately, the CCTV installed in the house has captured the images of the miscreants. Sources said the looters might have held a recce of the house earlier as they planned the crime when the house owner was not present.

The incident has triggered panic in the area, particularly among the senior citizens, who are staying alone. The locals have demanded that the local police intensify patrolling in the area.
