The district court has set the next date for hearing of the bail application of accused Anupam Sharma in a case which saw three policemen seizing cash from a property dealer Anurodh Panwar under the pretext of checks and seizures for the enforcement of model code of conduct on the night of April 4. Now, the hearing on bail application will be held on May 2. It is worth mentioning here that the three accused policemen have not filed bail applications in district court after their bail applications were rejected in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate.
The defendant’s advocate Neeraj Pandey said, “The prosecution was not able to file their motion against our application so the court gave them time to prepare and hence the date has been forwarded to May 2.”
Meanwhile, the official SUV of Garhwal Inspector General Ajay Rautela was released on Saturday. The vehicle was seized on April 20. It is important to mention that it has been established by both district police and STF that the official vehicle in question was indeed used during the incident.
It is pertinent to mention that on April 25 and 26, the Special Task Force (STF) took the four accused on remand for further interrogation regarding the bag that was allegedly looted on the night of April 4. The bag in question was said to be filled with a considerable sum of money. However, the defendants have maintained that the bag was filled with clothes and alcohol.
