Anju Kamalkant and Sanjay Goyal of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) were elected unopposed as Mayor and Deputy Mayor of East Delhi respectively. Ms Anju Kamalkant and Sanjay Goyal represent Ward No. 17 (Vishvas Nagar) and Ward No. 29 (Vivek Vihar) respectively.
Besides that Bipin Bihari Singh (Ward No—12, Patparganj); Ajay Sharma (Ward No-39, Naveen Shahdara); and Abdul Rahman (Ward No-41, Zafrabad) were also elected unopposed as the members of the Standing Committee.
On this occasion, the newly elected mayor, Anju Kamalkant said that she will work with full devotion. The mayor said that it would be her priority to make EDMC self- self-reliant and work for the improvement in sector of education and health.
“Primary responsibility of Corporation is to keep the area clean. In this direction, sanitation work will be improved to keep the East Delhi clean. Ms. Anju Kamalakant said that the civic facilities provided by the corporation will be made easily available to all”, she added.
Deputy Mayor said that he would assist the Mayor and work as a team.
Meanwhile, Avtar Singh and Yogesh Verma of BJP were elected unanimously for the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor of North Delhi respectively in the North MCD elections held today.
Avtar Singh was elected Councillor from Ward No. 83 N (Civil Lines), while Yogesh Verma had won from Ward No. 75 N (Ashok Vihar).
After the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor of North Delhi, three members of Standing Committee of the house Adesh Gupta (BJP), Jai Prakash (BJP) and Ravinder Bhardwaj (AAP) were elected unanimously after Prerna Singh (Congress) withdrew her nomination from the post.
Newly elected Mayor, Avtar Singh laid down his priorities and said that sanitation, education and health would be the priority. He said stress would be on making the Corporation self reliant for the purpose ongoing projects would be given boost. Deputy Mayor Yogesh Verma on his election on the post said that he would assist the Mayor and work as a team.
