State’s former chief minister and JCC-J supremo Ajit Jogi on Friday threatened legal action against the state government, terming the FIR against him for holding invalid caste certificate ‘unconstitutional.’
Notable, an FIR was registered against him late Thursday night at Civil Lines police station in Bilaspur.
On behalf of District Collector Tehsildar, Bilaspur lodged a written complaint questioning Jogi’s ST status. A high power caste scrutiny committee recently revoked the former CM’s caste certificates.
Civil lines police, Bilaspur registered the FIR under sections which are non-bailable.
Meanwhile, in a press conference here at Sagaun Bungalow, Jogi termed the action of the police prejudiced and said it was ‘illegal’ and ‘unconstitutional’.
“The Scheduled Caste Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Caste Act-2013 under which the FIR was lodged was framed in the year 2013 and my caste certificate was issued far earlier in the year 1986”, he claimed.
“How come a case be registered on matter which wasn’t a crime when it was committed,” Jogi argued.
Jogi further said that he was going to drag the district and police administration Bilaspur as well as the chief minister and the state government in the court for illegal action against him.
