The board examinations approaching, an activist group based in Dehradun has launched a helpline number for the students appearing in the exams. The helpline is available throughout the week from 9 am to 10 pm.
Sona Kaushal Gupta, head of the activist group Pari Foundation, said, “Opening this helpline number is basically an initiative to help the students facing Uttarakhand (UK) Board and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) board examinations stave off the stress. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) already has one helpline number. We receive more than 50 calls per day from students, parents as well as teachers about the stress they are facing because of the board exams. We have five teams of councillors and they address every query and counsel every caller appropriately.”
She further said, “The main cause of stress is fear. The students call us up and tell that they are not able to remember things even after studying so hard. The best way to avoid stress is to plan properly before studying, taking rest for 10 minutes while studying and solving one question paper daily. Stress is a negative factor and the students along with the parents and the teachers should avoid it.”
Giving information about the helpline number, Gupta said, “The helpline number is 9411028002 and email id is – Parifoundation @gmail.com. Any student, teacher, or parent dealing with stress can contact us in these handles.”
