A delegation of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad headed by national president of ABAP Narendra Giri met the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and discussed the preparations for Kumbh Mela slated to be begin in 2021 in Haridwar. During the meeting Narendra Giri said that Kumbh Mela in Haridwar shall be conducted on the pattern of Prayagraj Kumbh Mela. He demanded that Mela Adhikari must be nominated as soon as possible by the state government.
In a statement issued by ABAP, it is stated that ascetics have demanded from the state CM that encroachments at the Kumbhnagar land near Pantdweep should be removed. They have also demanded expansion of the Kumbh area so that ample land plots can be allotted to the coming ascetics and devotees for their camping. Narendra Giri has also demanded on behalf of Akhada council that the Bairagi camp area be beautified for camping of three ‘Anees’ (factions) of Bairagi Akhada. The permanent developmental works must be undertaken in these areas on the banks of Ganga so that after completion of the fair, they can be used by pilgrims.
Speaking to The Pioneer, Narendra Giri said, “We have been assured by the state CM Trivendra Singh Rawat that proposals submitted by the council will be considered. With the coordination of Akhada Parishad and ascetics, Kumbh Mela shall be given a magnificent form.”
Meanwhile a meeting has been proposed by ABAP, the apex body of ascetics, in June first week inviting all representative heads of Akhada parishad, said the Akhada president. The CM shall be meeting with all ascetics from akhadas, a day after the meeting, added Narendra Giri.
