Haryana Chief Secretary Keshni Anand Arora on Tuesday said that under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan, the flagship scheme of Central Government, seven districts of the state-- Ambala, Bhiwani, Jind, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Sonepat and Yamunanagar have so far been included in the first 50 districts in the national rankings.
Presiding over the third meeting of the State Level Coordination Committee of Jal Shakti Abhiyan here, Arora said that the installation of Rooftop Rain Water Harvesting System should be ensured in all public buildings, so that the maximum storage of rain water could be done. It was informed in the meeting that 1037 public buildings have been identified for Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting System and work on these has been started.
It was informed that for the recharging of ground water, a target has been set to dig 100 bore wells in each district.
It was also informed that in order to save water, the process for the purchase of water meters has been started for the installation of digital water meters on tubewells. Apart from this, rainwater harvesting systems will be installed in 1,000 of the state and 1.5 lakh soak pits will be made in the rural areas by the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department.
