On the occasion of completion of 50 years of office of Commissioner in Pauri, the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat gifted the district with projects worth Rs 1769.70 Lakh on Saturday.

In a programme titled ‘ Sunnairu Garhwal’ the CM inaugurated projects of Rs 1493.72 Lakhs concerned with construction of roads and schemes associated with renovation of canals and roads construction amounting to Rs 275.98 lakhs.

The CM also released textbooks in Garhwali language for the students of classes I to V on the occasion. Rawat also started ‘ Mukyamantri Amrit Anchal’ scheme which would benefit 1.66 lakh children enrolled in anaganwadi  centres.

Congratulating those present for completion of 50 years of Garhwal Commissioner office in Pauri, the CM said that the Cabinet meeting was held in Pauri to bring the district into focus. Appealing the non-resident Uttarakhandis to return to their roots, the CM said their return would boost the economy of the State.

He said that such people can play an important role in local agriculture, horticulture and other industries.

The CM handed over cheques of the zero interest rate loans to some women self help groups  on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of State for higher education and cooperatives, Dhan Singh Rawat said that the State Government has taken an initiative for preventing migration, rural development and women empowerment. The Garhwal Member of Parliament, Teerath Singh Rawat, said serious discussion is going on to tackle the menace of migration.

Local MLAs Dilip Rawat, Mukesh Koli, Nagar Palika Pauri chairman Yashpal Benam, celebrated folk singer Narendra Singh Negi and others were present on the occasion.
