Piplani police have nabbed four members of a vehicle lifter gang from Anand Nagar area and recovered four motorbikes worth Rs 2 lakh from their possession. Vehicle lifters used to steal motorbike for riding and dump the bikes in the city later.
Acting on a tip-off, two youths, who were trying to sell a motorbike without registration number near Anand Nagar were questioned regarding the documents of the motorbike.
They told the police personnel that they are in need of money and want to sell the motorbike and would provide the documents later. In the further investigation when they were interrogated, they accepted to have stolen the motorbike.
The two were identified as Raja Sen (20) of Subhash Nagar and Rohan Sen alias Dabbi (20) of Bina. Later the two revealed other members of the gang Sonu Sen (21) of Rahatgarh and Shivnarayan alias Chaman (24). Police recovered three more vehicles. The four vehicles were worth Rs 2 lakh. More recoveries would be made in the further investigation said police.
Police said that the accused used to steal bikes and after stealing the bike, they would try to sell the vehicle and till the time they would enjoy the ride on the stolen vehicle.
The number of bikes stolen and how many of the stolen were sold would be investigated in the further investigation. The accomplices who have helped to dispose the stolen vehicles and buyers who have bought the vehicles from the gang would be identified and quizzed.
