Bokaro police arrested four persons involved in several cases of cybercrime. The accused have been identified as Anil Kumar Sahu,Gopal Kumar Yadav, from Deoghar district while two others namely Jitendra Kumar Yadav and Dilip Kumar Yadav both belong to Bengabad in Giridih district, said SP P. Murugan.
They were held near Banshidih village in Chas area by a special squad headed by Chas officer-in charge on Tuesday morning. Four motorbikes,three laptops, 17 mobiles, 13 passbooks, 9 cheque books,19 ATM cards and Rs 52,000 in cash were recovered while they have already done transactions worth Rs 2 crore, said Murugan.
According to the Bokaro SP, the accused used to target innocent people and daily wage workers and the women posing them as the bank manager and asking them their account number and pin numbers,” added the SP.
SP, Bokaro, P Murugan said the accused operated remotely from mobile SIM cards issued on fake ID cards. Posing as senior manager or bank official, they cheated gullible women by asking their bank account number and ATM pin number.
They came to police net after an innocent villager filed a complaint with the Chas police that they were cheated by the cyber criminals. Police said as more than dozen cases of cybercrime frauds were registered against the accused at various police stations, police said police sources.
