This year, as many as 1,338 students of the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) will appear at the Higher Secondary (+2) Examinations to be conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE). Among them, 60 per cent are girl and an equal number is from primitive tribes, over two-thirds of them belonging to the Saura community.
The KISS has conducted many programmes like ‘Education for All’, ‘Kanya Kiran’ and Art of Giving in different districts of Odisha to create awareness on girls’ education. As a result, an increasing number of tribal girls from different districts are showing interest in education.
Like every year, KISS & KIIT founder Dr Achyuta Samanta distributed pens among KISS students and wished them all the best. "I am very much hopeful and confident that this year also, the students will retain the rhythm of cent per cent-success,” he said.
