Agriculture and water resources minister Ravindra Choubey assured the Congress MLA Shailesh Pandey about construction of two barrages on Arpa river in Bilaspur.
On the fourth day of winter session of Chhattisgarh assembly on Thursday, Pandey raised the issue that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had announced the construction of barrage and anicut on Apra River and sought updated information about the plan of bringing water from Ahiran river to Khuntaghat.
The minister in the reply said that survey has been commenced on construction of barrage near Pachrigha and anicut at Shivgha.
For the first phase of construction of water augmentation farcicality from Ahiran river to Khuntaghat, the link project of Ahiran-Gaajri rivulet, Rs 73793.19 lakh has been sanctioned. The clearances are awaited for the project. The budgetary provisions have been made for upstream and downstream projects, he added.
Former CM and JCC (J) MLA Ajit Jogi, meanwhile, raised the issue of Kanhar river. On this minister said Jharkhand is constructing a dam which will affect around 16 farmers and 79.55 hectare of land in the state.
Due to Uttar Pradesh government’s construction of Amavar dam project, a total of 360.7 hectares of land has been affected in the state, for which a compensation of Rs 7034.30 lakh has been paid.
