District Legal Service Authority of Gwalior in league with Jyoti Bhavana Mahiala Swastha Samiti conducted a Good Touch- Bad Touch awareness campaign at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Tatipur to create alertness among children about child sexual abuses.
Speaking on the occasion, ADJ Mukesh Rawat of the Madhya Pradesh High Court explained the difference between safe touch and unsafe touch, and told the students to bring any assault to the attention of teachers and parents without any delay.
The ADJ also explained the law protecting children against child abuse, Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act and said that strict action will be taken against people who indulge in child abuse in any way. He further said that the POCSO law is very easy and child friendly and assured the students that they will not be victimized in any way by vested interests.
The ADJ added that if any student is facing any worry or fear about any abuse, he or she can make a complaint on telephone no 1908 and immediate action will be taken against the offender even while keeping the caller’s identity confidential.
President of the Beti Raksha Manch said that parents have a duty to tell their child about good touch and bad touch so that no one can encroach upon the sanctity of his body.
He also said that as most of the students in government schools come from impoverished backgrounds, they are at maximum risk of abuse. He added that these children are easy targets and can be easily victimized by pedophiles and asked the teachers and parents to keep extra vigil.
Executive Magistrate Rajendra Singh, School Principal Shiv Kumar Bhadouria, President of Jyoti Bhavana Mahiala Swastha Samiti Jyoti Chauhan also spoke on the occasion.
